Engelska TLS håller fanan högt på sin sista sida, trots redaktörsbyte. Ett av många tacksamma ämnen är förstås vår tids ras- och genustokerier. Om The University of Leicester skriver man att det

"is undergoing its own book-sceptical attempt at a “restructuring”.

Universitetets ledning vill förvandla sitt

English department to a “‘decolonised’ curriculum”.

Chaucer and Beowulf, spat the Daily Telegraph, were to be replaced with “modules on race and sexuality”. Why, the threat to canonical decency even extends to Marlowe, Donne and “texts like [sic] John Milton’s Paradise Lost”. 

Så kan dårskap i dagens praktik se ut. Visste ni förresten att det finns en annan litteraturtidskrift i England med det bestickande namnet The White Review. Den utkommer endast 4 gånger om året, och förutom litteratur avhandlar den också konstens värld. Den ses kanske inte som ett lika stort hot som andra, numera välkända vita föremål och människor. The White Review berättar om sig själv:

The journal was conceived as an arts and literary journal specialising in artistically or educationally meritorious works of new or emerging artists and writers. Its aim is the promotion of the arts and literature and of advancing education in arts and literature. It takes its name and a degree of inspiration from La Revue Blanche, a Parisian magazine which ran from 1889 to 1903.
